Vi vet att vissa människor aldrig har hört talas om Kristi kyrka. Andra, kanske även du, har hört av oss, men inte vet vilka vi är.

Vi vill passa på att försöka svara på några frågor som ofta ställs om Kristi kyrka. Vi hoppas att våra enkla svar på dessa frågor kommer att hjälpa dig att förstå vilka vi är och vad vi gör.

Vad är Kristi Kyrka?

AboutUs: What We Do

1. Fråga: Är Kristi kyrka en ny religiös organisation?

Svar : Nej i själva verket har Kristi kyrka funnits i nästan 2000 år. Kyrkan hade sin början under det första århundradet på den judiska helgdagen, Pingst, ca år 30e Kr. Detta kom om bara tio dagar efter det att Jesus farit upp till himlen. Etableringen av kyrkan redovisas i Bibeln i Apostlagärningarna kapitel två, där vi läser att det på den första dagen ca 3000 tog emot ordet som predikades av apostlarna och sedan blev döpta (Apg 2:36-41).

2. Fråga: Var började den här kyrkan?

Svar: Bibeln berättar att Guds kyrka hade sin början i Jerusalem (Apg 2:5,14). Innan Jesu himmelsfärd till Fadern, sade Han till sina apostlar att vänta i Jerusalem tills de fått kraft från ovan, vilket var den Helige Andes makt (Luk 24:49, Apg 1:4-8). Även då Herrens kyrkan började i Jerusalem, uppmanade Jesus sina anhängare att gå ut i hela världen och predika evangeliet till alla människor (Mark 16:15).
Det är Guds vilja attdet finns församlingar av hans kyrka i hela världen. I Guds ögon finns det inget sådant som en “västerländsk” eller “österländsk” kyrka, eftersom det bara finns en andlig kropp eller Kristi kyrka (Ef 1:22,23, 4:4).

3. Fråga: Vem grundade Kristi kyrka?

Svar: Den grundades inte av någon människa, utan av Herren själv. Bibeln säger, ”Om inte HERREN bygger huset är arbetarnas möda förgäves” (Ps 127:1). Den enda grundaren av kyrkan är Jesus Kristus, för han sa "Jag säger dig: Du är Petrus, och på denna klippa skall jag bygga min församling, och helvetets* portar skall inte få makt över den” (Matt 16:18).

4. Fråga: Vilka böcker eller ledning följer Kristi kyrka?

Svar: Kristi kyrka följer inte eller accepterar inte lära av män, däribland mänskliga traditioner och trosbekännelse böcker. Vi följer bara Bibelns budskap att “ Hela Skriften är utandad av Gud och nyttig till undervisning, till bestraffning, till upprättelse och till fostran i rättfärdighet, så att Guds människa skall bli fullt färdig, väl rustad för varje god gärning”(2 Tim 3:16,17). Bibeln är Guds ord, Hans sanning, och endast dess budskap är en säker guide som kan göra människor fria (Joh 8:32). Vår tro är att Bibeln: det är den enda myndighet som vi accepterar i vår tro och praxis.

5. Fråga: Till vilken religiös organisation eller grupp tillhör Kristi kyrka?

Svar: Kristi kyrka är inte del av något kyrkosamfund. Vi är inte en del av någon religiös organisation.Vi är inte knutna till den romersk-katolska Kyrkan, mormonkyrkan, olika protestantiska kyrkosamfund, eller någon annan grupp. Vi tillhör endast Gud. Vi är helt enkelt
kristna, precis som lärjungarna kallades “kristna” i det första århundradet (Apg 11:26). Vi strävar efter att följa mönstret för kyrkan i Nya Testamentet, kyrkan som Guds Son grundade nästan 2000 år sedan. Vi vill också tillägga att Kristi kyrka är inte bara oberoende av något samfund nu men började långt innan människorna startade upp sina olika samfund och organisationer.

6. Fråga: Var finns Kristi kyrkas huvudkontor?

Svar: Kristi kyrka har inget jordiskt huvudkontor, inga centrala kontor, och ingen i hela världen som styr kyrkan. Vi har ingen påve, ingen president, och ingen person eller grupp av människor på jorden som styr tusentals församlingar som finns i hela världen. Bibeln säger att Jesus är chef för Kyrkan (Ef 5:23), och att Gud har lagt allt under hans fötter (Ef 1:22). Eftersom Jesus, vår chef, nu sitter på högra sidan av Fadern i himlen (Kol 3:1), Kristi kyrkas “högkvarter” är i himlen. Varje lokal kyrka eller församling är själv styrande. Jesus Kristus har fått all makt (Matt 28:18), och därför är varje församling under hans styre.

7. Fråga: Varför kallar ni er Kristi kyrka?

Svar: Jesus lovade sina apostlar “. . .” och på denna klippa* skall jag bygga min församling” (Matt 16:18). Därför hör Kyrkan till Kristus. Bibeln säger också att Jesus köpte kyrkan med Hans eget blod (Apg 20:28). Kyrkan är på så sätt hans. Vi bär namnet Kristus för att ge ära till vår Frälsare och chef, som vi tillhör. Det finns flera beskrivningar av kyrkan i Nya testamentet, däribland “Guds församling” (1 Kor 1:2), “kyrkor av Kristus” (Rom 16:16), “Kristi kropp” (Ef 1:22,23), “Guds hus” (1 Tim 3:15) och Guds sons rike (Kol 1:13).

8. Fråga: När har Kristi församlingar sina gudstjänster? Vad händer på gudstjänsterna?

Svar: Bibeln förklarar att Jesus uppstod från de döda på den första dagen i veckan, vilket är söndag (Mark 16:9). Dessutom, under det första århundradet samlades de kristna på den första dagen i veckan för att komma ihåg sin uppståndne Herre och tillbedja Gud i himlen (Apg 20:7). Idag fortsätter Kristi kyrka att mötas varje söndag för att tillbe den levande Gud. Vår gudstjänst varje Herrens dag består av fem delar som anges nästa.

9. Fråga: Vad måste man göra för att komma in (bli medlem) i Kristi Kyrka?

Svar: Enligt Bibeln, så ansöker man inte om medlemskap, utan snarare Gud lägger alla som är frälsta till sin kyrka (Apg 2:47). Eller, för att uttrycka det på ett annat sätt, man måste vara född av vatten och ande för att komma in i Guds kyrka (Joh 3:5). Enkelt uttryckt, för att komma in i Guds kyrka måste lyda evangeliet om Kristus.
Vad innehåller det? Det inkluderar att höra Guds ord (Rom 10:17), tro att Gud existerar (Hebr 11:6) och att Jesus är hans Son (Joh 3:16-18), omvända oss från tidigare synder (Apg 17:30), bekänna
Jesus som Guds Son (Matt 16:16, Apg 8:37), och bli döpt (nedsänkt i vatten,
Apg 22:16). När en person gör de här sakerna blir han eller hon förlåten för alla tidigare synder och Gud gör då honom till medlem i Hans kyrka. Han har blivit född in i Guds familj.

10. Fråga: Varför finns Kristi kyrka? Vad är dess uppgift?

Svar: Bibeln visar att före världens skapelse, så hade Gud redan planerat för Hans kyrka(Ef 3:6-11). Inrättandet var förutsagt av profeterna i Gamla testamentet (Jes 2:1-4). I all sin verksamhet, är kyrkan att förhärliga Gud (Ef 3:21). Vårt uppdrag, precis som vår Frälsare, är att söka och rädda de förlorade (Luk 19:10). För att göra detta har kyrkan tre olika arbetsområden som den arbetar med: predika Kristi evangelium till de förlorade, studera Bibeln med de som redan är kristna och bygga upp dem och stärka kyrkan, utöva välgörenhet och hjälpa de behövande.

Kära läsare, vi inser att svaren på de här frågorna har varit rätt korta, men vi hoppas att materialet vi har presenterat har hjälpt dig att bättre förstå Kristi kyrka. Må Gud välsigna dig när du strävar efter att lära sig och göra hans vilja! “

Kristi församlingar hälsa er “(Rom 16:16).

Vår gudstjänst varje Herrens dag består av fem delar som anges nedan:

(1) Predika / studera Guds ord (Apg 20:7, 2 Timothy 4:2) - Vi betonar Bibeln endast är Guds ord är lampan som visar människan rätt riktning (Ps 119:105). Endast evangeliet är Guds makt att ta bort vår synd (Romarbrevet 1:16).

(2) Bön (Apg 2:42; Timothy 2:1,2,8) - Bön är människans sätt att kommunicera med Gud. Våra böner handlar om tacksägelse, önskemål, beröm och ära till Gud, och syndabekännelse.

(3) Herrens nattvard (1 Kor 11:23-27) -

Herrens nattvard, som också kallas “bryta bröd” eller “kommunionen”, består av två delar: osyrat bröd och frukt av vinrankan. För att minnas Jesu död varje söndag så äter medlemmarna i varje kyrka

bröd, som representerar Jesu kropp och dricker vin eller druvjuice, som representerar hans blod (Matteus

26:26-29).

(4) Att ge pengar (1 Kor 16:1,2) – Att ge till Gud den

första dagen i veckan (söndag) är ett ansvar som varje kristen har. Dessa bidrag används för att stödja arbetet

i den lokala kyrkan, och sådana frivilliga gåvor är kyrkans enda inkomstkälla.

Kyrkan bedriver ingen

företagsverksamhet för att kunna utföra sina aktiviteter.

(5) Sång (Ef 5:19) - som Nya testamentet föreskriver,

består av att prisa Gud i sång, tala med varandra och

förmana varandra “med psalmer, hymner och andliga sånger, sjunga och göra melodi “i våra hjärtan tillHerren.

What is Church of Christ?

We know that some people have never heard of the church of Christ. Others, perhaps even you, have heard of us, but do not know who we are. We would like to take this opportunity to share with you some questions that are often asked about the church of Christ. We hope that our simple answers to these questions will help you understand just who we are and what we do.

AboutUs: What We Do

1. Question: Is the church of Christ a new religious organization?

No. In fact, the church of Christ has existed for nearly 2000 years. The church had its beginning in the first century on the Jewish feast day called Pentecost – the date was about A.D. 30. This came about just ten days after Jesus ascended to heaven. The establishment of the church is recorded in the Bible in Acts chapter two, where we read that on that first day about 3000 received the word preached by the apostles and were baptized (Acts 2:36-41).

2. Question: Where did this church begin?

The Bible records that the church of the living God had its beginning in the city of Jerusalem (Acts 2:5,14). Before Jesus’ ascension to the Father, He told His apostles to wait in Jerusalem until they received power from above, which was the power given to them by the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-8). Though the Lord’s church began in Jerusalem, Jesus instructed His followers to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every person (Mark 16:15). It is God’s will that there be congregations of His church throughout the whole world. In God’s sight there is no such thing as a “Western” or “Eastern” church, as there is only one spiritual body or church of the Christ (Ephesians 1:22,23; 4:4).

3. Question: Who founded the church of Christ?

It was not founded by any man, but by the Lord Himself. The Bible says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it”

4. Question: What books or standard of authority does the church of Christ follow?

The church of Christ does not follow or accept the teachings of men, including human traditions and creed books. We follow only the teaching of the Bible because, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16,17). The Bible is God’s word, His truth, and only its message is a safe guide that can make men free (John 8:32). Our creed is the Bible: it is the only authority that we accept in our faith and practice.

5. Question: To what religious organization or denomination does the church of Christ belong?

The church of Christ is undenominational. We are not a part of any denominational organization. We are not connected with the Roman Catholic Church, Mormon Church, denominations from the Protestant Reformation, or any other group. We belong only to God. We are simply Christians, just as the disciples were called “Christians” in the first century (Acts 11:26). We strive to follow the pattern for the church that is found in the New Testament in order that today we might be the non-denominational church that the Son of God founded nearly 2000 years ago. We would also add that the church of Christ is not only undenominational, but it is predenominaional as well, since it existed before any denomination was started by men.

6. Question: Where are the headquarters for the church of Christ?

The church of Christ has no earthly headquarters, no central office, and no worldwide governing

body. We have no pope, no president, and no person or group of people on the earth who control the thousands of congregations that exist throughout the world. The Bible says that Jesus is the Head of the church (Ephesians 5:23), and God has put all things under His feet (Ephesians 1:22). Because Jesus, our Head, now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven (Colossians 3:1), the “headquarters” for the church of Christ are in heaven. Each local church or congregation is self-ruling. Jesus the Christ has been given all authority (Matthew 28:18), and thus every congregation is under His rule.

7. Question: Why do you call yourselves “the church of Christ?”

Jesus promised His apostles, “. . . on this rock I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18). Therefore, the church belongs to the Christ. The Bible also records that Jesus purchased the church with His own blood (Acts 20:28). The church is thus His by right of ownership. We wear the name of the Christ to give honor to our Savior and Head, to Whom we belong. There are several descriptions of the church in the New Testament, including “church of God” (1 Corinthians 1:2), “churches of Christ” (Romans 16:16), “body of Christ” (Ephesians 1:22,23), “house of God” (1 Timothy 3:15), and “kingdom” of God’s Son (Colossians 1:13).

8. Question: On which day does the Church of Christ worship? What do you do during your worship services?

The Bible declares that Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week, which is Sunday (Mark 16:9). In addition, in the first century Christians assembled on the first day of the week in order to remember their risen Lord and worship the God of heaven (Acts 20:7). Today the church of Christ continues to assemble each Sunday to worship the living God.

9. Question: What must one do in order to enter (become a member of) the church of Christ?

According to the Bible, men do not join the church, but rather God adds all saved people to His church (Acts 2:47). Or, to express it another way, one must be born of water and the Spirit in order to enter the kingdom (John 3:5). Simply put, in order to enter the church of the Lord one must obey the gospel of the Christ. What does this include? It includes hearing

the word of God (Romans 10:17), believing that God exists (Hebrews 11:6) and that Jesus is His Son (John 3:16-18), repenting of past sins (Acts 17:30), confessing Jesus as the Son of God (Matthew 16:16; Acts 8:37), and being baptized (immersed in water, Acts 22:16). When a person does the things just noted, he is saved from all past sins and God adds him to His church. He has been born into God’s family.

10. Question: Why does the church of Christ exist? What is its mission?

The Bible indicates that before the creation of the world, the church was already in the mind of God (Ephesians 3:6-11). Its establishment was foretold by the prophets of the Old Testament (Isaiah 2:1-4). In all of its activities, the church is to glorify God (Ephesians 3:21). Our mission, like that of our Savior, is to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). In order to do this, the church has three different areas of work in which it engages: preaching the gospel of Christ to the lost, teaching the Bible to Christians to build them up and strengthen the church, and the doing of benevolence or good works to those in need.

Dear reader, we realize that our answers to these ten questions have been brief, but we hope that the material we have presented has helped you to understand better the church of Christ. May God bless you as you strive to learn and do His will! “The churches of Christ greet you” (Romans 16:16).

Our worship each Lord’s day consists of five parts, listed below

(1) Preaching/study of God’s word (Acts 20:7; 2 Timothy 4:2) – We emphasize the Bible because only the word of God is the lamp that shows man the path he should travel (Psalm 119:105). Only the gospel is God’s power to save us from sin (Romans 1:16).

(2) Prayer (Acts 2:42; Timothy 2:1,2,8) – Prayer is man’s way to communicate to God. Our prayers in-clude thanksgiving, requests, praise and glory to God, and confession of sin.

(3) Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23-27) – The Lord’s Supper, which is also called “breaking bread” or “communion,” consists of two elements: unleav-ened bread and fruit of the vine. In order to remem-ber the death of Jesus, each Sunday members of the church eat the bread, which represents the body of Jesus, and drink the fruit of the vine, which represents His blood (Matthew 26:26-29).

(4) Contribution (1 Corinthians 16:1,2) – Giving to God on each first day of the week (Sunday) is the responsibility of each Christian. These contributions are used to support the work of the local church, and such free will gifts are the sole source of income for the church. The church does not engage in business enterprises to support its activities.

(5) Singing (Ephesians 5:19) – As the New Testament teaches, our music consists of offering praises to God in song, speaking to one another and admonishing one another “in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody” in our hearts to the Lord.
